For my capstone project, I’m exploring ways to help outdoor enthusiasts maintain a connection to the outdoors when they need to be inside. Sadly, not everyone can work as a ski instructor, mountaineering guide or tree planter their whole lives. As these people make their way into the great indoors for the majority of their working lives, how can we make it a less alienating experience for them?
More sketches are available in the Capstone gallery at my Flickr account.

I killed a half hour looking through all these in full size on flickr – great job Dane. My favorite is the rock – I started thinking about all the ways you could actually make it look/feel/be like the real rock. My favorite is when it wets itself like a doll.
EXCELLENT.
Yes, the intent is that it is a real rock. A real fucking rock from the shores of Lake Superior, smooth and magically enchanted with hot or cold or frost or, yes, pissing itself all over your desk cuz it never stops raining in Bloomington, for three weeks straight it rains and rains and rains and cold and the fall leaves are damp and they smell like moist decay.
A real rock.
